There’s no map for this. Being queer gave me a shortcut for finding that out; I suspect it might have taken me longer if the identities I’d absorbed had fit better, for longer, before I outgrew them.
I’m struck by how much we’re able to endure, to survive—and how often what we think might end us is actually only our beginning.
In trying to put words to Jed (impossible), the first thing that comes to mind is delight. His spirit is playful and inquisitive, and he brings that true essence to his work and presence here.
